Baked Brie with Hot Honey, Pistachios and Dates
Baked Brie With Hot Honey, Dates and Pistachios is an easy appetizer that turns a simple wheel of Brie into a restaurant-style centerpiece. The Brie is warmed until soft and creamy, then topped with sweet dates, crunchy pistachios, and a drizzle of spicy hot honey. Serve it with toasted baguette, crackers, or sliced fruit for an impressive appetizer that takes very little effort. The combination of creamy, salty, sweet, crunchy, and spicy flavors makes every bite interesting, while the beautiful presentation makes it perfect for entertaining. Whether you’re building a holiday appetizer board, hosting a dinner party, or planning a Restaurant Night at home, this baked Brie is an easy favorite.

If you want an appetizer that looks like you put in way more effort than you actually did, this Baked Brie with Hot Honey, Dates and Pistachios is it. A whole wheel of creamy Brie is baked until warm and gooey, then topped with sweet dates, crunchy pistachios and a generous drizzle of hot honey. The combination of creamy, salty, sweet, nutty and spicy flavors makes every bite a little different—and completely irresistible.
This is one of those appetizers that feels right at home on a restaurant menu, but is incredibly easy to make in your own kitchen. There’s very little prep involved, and once the Brie goes into the oven, you have time to get everything else ready. Bring it to the table warm with crackers, sliced baguette, pita or fresh fruit and let everyone dig in.
We especially love the combination of hot honey and dates here. The dates bring a rich, caramel-like sweetness that works beautifully with the heat from the honey, while pistachios add just the right amount of crunch. The Brie ties everything together with its creamy, buttery texture.
You can also customize the toppings depending on what you have on hand. Try adding fresh rosemary or thyme, a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, lemon or orange zest, or even a few dried cranberries. And if you don’t have homemade hot honey ready to go, this is a great excuse to make a batch—it’s one of those simple flavor boosters you’ll find yourself reaching for again and again.
Serve this baked Brie as part of an appetizer spread, holiday gathering, wine-and-cheese night, or our Hot Honey Appetizer Board. Pair it with crackers, roasted garlic, whipped feta, fruit and other small bites for an easy restaurant-style grazing board at home.

Ingredients used in Baked Brie With Hot Honey
- 1 wheel Brie 21 oz (600g) we use Kirkland Signature Double Cream Brie 600g. You can use smaller wheels of Brie, but the cooking time will be less, about 12 minutes or so. Be sure to read the package directions to ensure the proper cooking time for a smaller Brie.
- 2–3 tablespoons hot honey
- ¼ cup chopped pistachios
- ¼ cup finely chopped Medjool dates
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
- pinch of flaky sea salt (optional)
- lemon or orange zest (optional)
- fresh rosemary or thyme (optional)
Recommended Equipment
We like to bake our Brie on a parchment lined baking sheet. Then, we cut a circle in the parchment, around the Brie, with a few inches all around it. That makes it easy to transfer the Brie to a serving dish. Alternatively, you can bake the Brie directly in an oven-safe baking dish that can double as a serving dish.
How to Make Baked Brie With Hot Honey
You won’t believe how easy this appetizer is to prepare!
STEP 1 — Prepare the Brie
1. Prepare the Brie
Preheat oven to 350 ℉. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Unwrap the Brie and place it in the center of the baking sheet. Alternatively, you can bake the Brie in an oven-safe dish with at least a few inches around the Brie that will also function as the serving dish.
While the oven preheats, remove the pits from the dates and chop them. Now is a good time to chop the pistachios. Put the dates and pistachios in separate bowls and set aside. You can put a shallow crisscross pattern on the top of the Brie or leave it as is.
Optional: Score the top rind lightly in a crisscross pattern.
We like keeping the rind—it looks beautiful and holds everything together.

STEP 2 — Bake in Oven
Place the baking sheet with the Brie into the preheated oven. Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the Brie is tender and the center feels soft and warm.
If you’re Brie is smaller, bake for 12–15 minutes.
You want the inside to be melted while the outside is still intact.
The Brie should feel soft to the touch. Remove the tray from the oven. Carefully, cut the parchment paper in a circle around the Brie, leaving a couple of inches around the Brie. This will help you to transfer the Brie to the serving dish, by lifting the parchment paper with the Brie on it. You can keep the parchment paper on when you serve the Brie.

STEP 3 — Add Toppings
Cover the top of the baked Brie evenly with chopped Medjool dates. Then, with a honey dipper or spoon, add a generous drizzle of hot honey to the top of the baked Brie.

Sprinkle some chopped pistachios evenly over the baked Brie. Add the lemon or orange zest, if using.
Transfer the Brie carefully to a serving dish. Serve with crackers, toasted baguette slices and pita bread wedges.

Finish with flaky sea salt and some fresh herbs like mint, if desired. Serve warm.
Flavor Variations
You can do so many different things with this, depending on what you have on hand, and if you want to incorporate seasonal and holiday trends.
Baked Brie With Hot Honey & Fig
Swap the dates for chopped dried figs.
Baked Brie With Cranberry & Pistachio
Use dried cranberries for a more traditional holiday version.
Baked Brie With Apple & Hot Honey
Add thinly sliced apple alongside the dates for a fresh, crisp contrast.
Baked Brie With Pomegranate
Add pomegranate arils after baking for a beautiful red-and-green presentation.
Baked Brie With Hot Honey & Walnuts
Use toasted walnuts instead of pistachios.
Baked Brie With Orange & Pistachio
Add orange zest and pistachios for a particularly good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern direction.
Recipe Tips for the Best Baked Brie
The recipe is very straightforward but there are a few tips to make the process even more seamless.
- Don’t overbake it. You want the center soft and creamy without the cheese completely melting into a puddle.
- Score the top if desired. A few shallow cuts allow the hot honey and toppings to settle into the warm Brie.
- Use good dates. Medjool dates are especially soft and caramel-like, but other pitted dates work well too.
- Chop the dates fairly small. Smaller pieces make it easier to get dates, pistachios, Brie, and hot honey into the same bite.
- Toast the pistachios if you have time. A few minutes of toasting brings out their natural oils and makes their flavor more pronounced.
- Add the hot honey after baking. This keeps the honey’s sweet-spicy flavor bright and gives you that beautiful glossy drizzle.
- Don’t forget the acidity. A little lemon zest or a few drops of lemon juice can brighten the rich Brie and sweet dates.
- Serve immediately. Baked Brie is at its best while warm and soft.
- Think Like a Restaurant: Place the warm Brie on a large serving board and surround it with toasted baguette slices, crackers, grapes, fresh fruit, and a few extra dates and pistachios. We love it on our hot honey sharing board that’s perfect for the holidays. Finish with another drizzle of hot honey right before serving.
